Channeling the borough’s blue-collar spirit, the Brooklyn squad’s style of play has long been respected for it’s hardnosed toughness. Team Brooklyn, Coached by Sid Jones–a man whose name is synonymous with championship basketball in New York City–and local streetball legend Mike Campbell, the team squared off in the first round of the Battle of the Boroughs against an equally gritty Bronx squad. “We taking no prisoners,” Sid said, “That’s what Brooklyn is about!” Still, despite a monster game from Kamari Murphy (who stuffed the stat-sheet with 13 points, 9 rebounds and 5 blocks), Brooklyn was ousted in a nail-biter that came down to a desperation three-pointer. They’ll be back.

Seventh grade is when Mike Taylor started taking basketball seriously. He tried out for the team because of his friends and the rest is history. A fan of Ray Allen, Kobe Bryant and Tracy McGrady, Mike can shoot from anywhere on the court and can finish with either hand. He’s also a great rebounder. Be sure to watch out for his jab step behind-the-back pull-up.
