Known for punishing physical play, The Bronx team personified basketball spirit of their storied borough leaving their foes battered, bruised and beaten. Coached by Maxwell “Bingo” Cole, a community icon that has won titles all over New York City, the team was also counseled by Kenny Satterfield, a Bronx native who played professionally at the highest levels. In their first round victory over Brooklyn, Nkereuwem Okoro led all scorers with 15 points and pitched in 8 rebs and 3 blocks. In the showdown with Queens in the finals, Daniel Dingle contributed 14 points and 6 assists, but it wasn’t enough to prevail. Despite the loss, Bingo was proud of his boys. “That’s a tough team,” he said. “I’ll take that team anywhere.”
